Steinstø Fruit Farm

If you drive on the tourist road, Road no 7, approximately 90 minutes from Bergen, you will find Steinstø Fruit Farm. An idyllic place in peaceful surroundings located along the Hardanger fjord. For nine generations our family has grown fruits and berries, and nowadays we also process and preserve some of our own products. Visiting Steinstø you can experience how the farm is run and how it was run in the past. We are happy to offer quality fruits and berries, homemade apple juice, different types of home made jam, jellies, a traditional spread “lefse”, apple cake and several other delicious dishes.

Fruits and berries

Red, sweet and tempting, our strawberries are ripe from the middle of June. In July you can find delicious raspberries, sweet cherries, plums, summer apples and summer pears. September also brings fruit suitable for storing during the winter. In a normal season, we harvest approximately 60 tons of fruits and berries.

Shop and cafeteria

By the roadside you will find “Steinstø Frukt og Kakebu”, open every day from the 1stof June until the middle of October. Seated inside or under open air, you can enjoy a magnificent, breath taking view over the Hardanger Fjord with the glacier “Folgefonna” in the horizon. Our cafeteria offers several home made dishes. We recommend that you try our world famous apple cake.

In the shop you can buy fruits and berries from our farm, homemade jam and pastry, and other products from local farmers.

Our comfortable restaurant “Kjedlaren” (“kjedlaren” is Norwegian for basement) is located in the basement of one of the farm houses. The restaurant can seat 60 guests, and the premises are adapted for wheelchair users. The menu is based on traditional Norwegian food from local ingredients. We serve lunch, dinner, buffet or plain dishes, according to your wishes.

“Kjedlaren” is licensed to serve beer, wine and liquor. It is possible to reserve the restaurant for private arrangements, such as christenings, confirmations, weddings, birthday parties or excursions throughout the year. “Kjedlaren” is well suited for meetings and seminars.
